What is “Kaiju4Equality”

Kaiju4Equality is my attempt to start a collaborative sticker campaign that raises awareness about racial injustice.

Like other sticker campaigns, the immediate goal is to put the stickers up in as many compelling locations as possible. The ultimate goal for this project is to create a far reaching sticker campaign that can start conversations wherever one of the stickers may end up. 

What is a “Kaiju” & why use them?

The word “Kaiju” roughly translates to “strange beast” & refers to a Japanese (for the most part) genre of films that feature giant monsters.  In many of these films the giant monsters wreak havoc on cities; however, the genre also includes films where one slightly more likable Kaiju fights a different significantly more villainous one.

To state that the toxic cocktail of white supremacy, systemic racism, and mass incarceration is anything less than a “kaiju-sized” problem is simply refusing to face our reality.

The only way to create an equitable world for all people is through “kaiju-sized” solutions. Many of the positive inroads that have been made in recent weeks are the DIRECT result of people taking direct action.

So much in the same way that Kaiju’s lay waste to the obstacles in their path, We ,THE PEOPLE, must do the same!
